Search Engine Optimization Specialist
P/T Internship Position
JOB DESCRIPTION:
The SEO Specialist will be responsible for
improving search engine rankings of existing and new webpages for
both HTML and database driven websites. This candidate will keep
up on changing search engine strategies, and will work to promote
websites on search engines through the application of ethical optimization
and rank-enhancing techniques. This includes creating and maintaining
project plans and keeping clients apprised of your progress through
regular status reports. Once the project plan is in place, it will
be your responsibility to implement it and see it through to successful
completion. This is an exciting and challenging opportunity for
a dynamic, self-motivated individual interested in joining a fast-paced
team.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Copy write webpage text to include keywords
and key phrases
- Evaluate usability of existing websites
- Create and monitor search engine keywords, phrases
and placement
- Optimize various page components including text,
page titles, meta tags, site architecture, alt tags, anchor text
links, etc.
- Keyword research to identify client’s
most targeted and relevant keywords/phrases
- Site submissions to search engines and directories
- Keeps up to date with search technology, standards,
algorithms and policies
- Logs website statistics and is responsible for
keeping clients “Site Development Worksheet” up to
date
- Works closely with staff to implement technical
aspects to web pages
JOB REQUIREMENTS:
- 2 years experience in developing well-optimized
websites (basic html/web design)
- Outstanding communication and written skills
Excellent knowledge of the internet including search engine technology
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications,
especially Word, Excel and Access
- Ability to work as part of a project team as
well as independently
- Must be organized, very detail-oriented, accurate
and have ability to meet deadlines
- Must be self-disciplined and manage time effectively,
and be able to multi-task
- Experience with Wordtracker or similar online
keyword/phrase analysis preferred
- Familiarity with PPC management a plus
OTHER DETAILS:
This is an entry-level, non-paid internship
position. Candidate must fulfill requirement as mandated by the
college. All hours are flexible and must be completed on-site in
our office. Successful completion of Internship may lead to a permanent
job offer.
